MOVING CHECK LIST
- As soon as you know your moving date call The Joy of Moving for
information and check for availability. - Once you have booked your moving company, call and request confirmation by email.
- If you are moving from an apartment or condo, make sure you
book your elevator for more time than you need. - If you are moving from a townhouse without a driveway, make
sure your neighbors know your moving date so there’s room for
the truck. - Unless being packed by us you will need proper packing material ie: small, medium or large boxes, paper, tape,
and a felt marker. - Start packing your home early as possible with the items you
Won’t use until after you are moved. - A few days before your move finish packing the rest of your
belongings.

PACKING TIPS
- All of your boxes should be filled to the top and sealed shut
with tape, no open top boxes. - Use smaller boxes when packing heavy items so they are
easily managed. - When packing china use plenty of paper and stand plates
vertically. - When packing larger fragile items such as lamps or vases you can use towels or linens for cushioning.
- Label boxes with a felt marker for easy identification
and organization. - You should transport your jewelry, items of extraordinary value and important documents and papers.
- Pack an “open me first” box or two with things you will need for
Your first night in your new home.

TIME SAVING TIPS
- Leave light clothing in your dresser drawers,
remove valuables or fragile items and pack them away. - Do your own disassembly of beds or anything else that
needs to be disassembled ahead of time. Put hardware in
ziplock bags and tape it to the piece or put in a set up box. - Have boxes easily accessible stacked in a common area.
- Make sure hallways and rooms are clear of clutter so that
the furniture is easy to access. - Gas powered lawn and gardening tools including snowblower
should be drained ahead of time. - If moving a freezer, place frozen food in shopping bags and put
the bags back in the freezer. - Pack fridge the morning of your move in coolers or boxes that
can go on last and come off first.
