Dr. Shannon Pursley, Psychologist
Dr. Shannon Pursley is a registered psychologist with the College of Psychologists and Behaviour Analysts of Ontario. She works with adults in the areas of clinical, health, and rehabilitation psychology. She received her Ph.D. from Dalhousie University and has been working in private practice since 2010. She has trained and worked in a variety of settings including primary care, medical inpatient hospital units (e.g., epilepsy monitoring unit, consultation-liaison psychiatry service), outpatient hospital care (e.g., behavioural medicine), at a university counselling clinic, and in community mental health settings. She has also worked in the capacity of a psychologist consultant for multi-disciplinary health care providers.
Dr. Pursley provides assessment and treatment services for adults with a variety of psychological concerns, including a wide-range of anxiety and stress-related concerns, grief and bereavement, relationship difficulties, and coping with significant life stressors and changes. She has a special interest in women’s health and supporting individuals who are coping with health issues such as facing a new medical diagnosis or health challenge, or living with chronic health conditions. She also works with individuals who are seeking support with making lifestyle changes to support their health and well-being.
Dr. Pursley uses a client-centred and integrative approach that is grounded in evidence-based approaches, including cognitive-behavioural therapy, mindfulness, and motivational interviewing.
