Burlington Psychological and Counselling Services (BPCS) is a clinical psychology practice that offers assessment and treatment services to children, adolescents and adults.
We are a group of highly skilled mental health professionals with extensive experience working with a wide variety of issues. Our primary goal is to help clients achieve personal goals and become more confident in managing their unique areas of difficulty. Services are tailored to each client’s unique needs and range from support for everyday issues to treatment for more significant difficulties. Counselling is provided in a supportive, confidential and professional environment.
Our clinicians have extensive training in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Mindfulness, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. Some clinicians have additional training in Dialectical Behaviour Therapy and Emotion-Focused Therapy. All of our clinicians are registered with the College of Psychologists of Ontario or the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario
We maintain professional relationships and work collaboratively with Family Physicians, Psychiatrists, Schools and Educational Consultants, Occupational Therapists, Rehabilitation Specialists, and Speech and Language Pathologists. We accept direct referrals from lawyers, WSIB, and disability insurers.

Dr. Karen Zhang received her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from University of Western Ontario and is a registered clinical psychologist with the Ontario College of Psychologists. Ms. Debbie Smith provides assistance with respect to general clinic inquiries, intake and new referrals, and scheduling of existing clients. Phones are answered between the hours of 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Ms. Smith can also be reached directly at dsmith@burlingtonpcs.com

Therapy is collaborative and problem-focused in nature, with an emphasis on helping clients develop and practice skills to be implemented in their daily lives. Treatment is tailored to each individual’s needs and unique areas of difficulty.

We are located on Fairview Street in the Fairview Business Park, situated between Guelph Line and Brant Street, just a few blocks south of the QEW. We are located a short distance from the Burlington GO station. We have ample parking and are easily accessible by public transit. We are also wheelchair accessible.
Information for Lawyers, Physicians and Insurers
If you are a lawyer or a physician who is looking to have a client undergo a psychological evaluation and/or treatment, we would be happy to be of assistance. Clinicians at BPCS have significant experience in the areas of chronic pain, disability assessments, medical legal evaluations, and personal injury (e.g. motor vehicle accidents and work-related incidents). Referrals are also accepted from the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board.
