Murray Peacock of Peacock Rug Care

Murray’s Background

Over the last twenty years Murray Peacock had been IICRC certified in carpet cleaning, upholstery cleaning, water damage, odour control, carpet dyeing and redyeing, fire restoration, rug cleaning, as well as being a certified senior carpet inspector and holding the designation of Master Carpet Cleaner for many years. He is still actively involved in each of these fields save for inspections. He also teaches and consults to a number of cleaning firms in Ottawa and area.

Starting this business in 1987, Murray is still fascinated with the Art and Science of rug restoration. “A lot of what I do can’t be learned in a two or three day course, or even in a few years. To re-dye colour loss and bleach stains on carpets takes many years of practice to get it just right. Science can be learned in a short period of time, but art takes much more time and perseverance to get it just right. To strip migrant dyes from rugs takes understanding of the science of what we are cleaning and the chemistry of what we are using to clean it with. It’s also an art to execute this properly to obtain a beautiful result.”
