MMOPA Ombudsman Program

The MMOPA Ombudsman is a designated individual authorized and charged by the Board of Directors to work directly with the manufacturers of the PA46 airframe, engines, and major components on behalf of the membership to resolve product support and customer service issues not being adequately addressed through normal channels. These advocacy issues include:

  • Difficulty with replacement parts availability
  • Reliability and longevity of replacement parts
  • Identify fleet-wide support issues and initiate satisfactory resolutions with manufacturers
  • Working with manufacturers to initiate product improvements and design changes
  • Negotiating with manufacturers to assume financial responsibility for resolving design defects
  • Direct members to proper support channels and procedures, and mediate with vendors to reach a satisfactory resolution

Members may contact the Ombudsman to seek assistance with current product support issues, but first, should exhaust the following support procedures:

  • Identify yourself as a MMOPA member to the manager at the service facility and request a meeting to review the situation with your aircraft support issue. Give the facility an opportunity to negotiate professionally with you to arrive at a resolution.
  • If the above does not work and this is a Piper aircraft support issue, contact one of the Piper Distribution Service Administrators. DSAs have direct contact with the factory every week to alert Piper to urgent and AOG situations. It is important to give them a reasonable opportunity to resolve your problem before referring it to the Ombudsman for intervention. Be aware that the facilities of the DSA are available to you even if your aircraft is not being serviced by a Piper Service Center. Click here to contact your regional Piper DSA.
